The Township’s water filtration plant uses physical and chemical processes to treat Lake Michigan water, supplying you with safe, consistent drinking water of great quality!
The water is pre-filtered at the shorewell station before being pumped up to the plant. At the plant the water is sent through even finer filters which remove dirt, sediment, and other bacteria. After filtration, Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach) is added to disinfect the water and keep it free from pathogens as it travels through the underground pipes to your home.
We have a great staff at the water plant that is proud to provide the township with its drinking water. We work hard to ensure your water stays in compliance with all drinking water rules and regulations.
