The Records Department Lobby is CLOSED until further notice. If you need to obtain a police report, Submit A Foia Request by mail, fax, or by emailing the FOIA coordinator via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Benton Charter Township Police Records Department is located at the front southwest lobby door on Territorial Road. Our business office hours are from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. After-hours need for an officer can be addressed by the use of the outside contact button located at the door at the front west end of the building. Any message for the records department after hours can be left through the telephone system, extension #4, and will be forwarded to the records office the following morning. During our business hours we can supply the public with copies of accident reports and with other reports as needed for insurance or personal purposes. Reports of incidents other than traffic accidents will require a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA); FOIA request forms are available at the office between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM or can be accessed on-line; see links below. These forms may be presented to the records department in person, email or by mail. If requester wants the information mailed to them, the request will be completed when payment is received (if applicable). Any requests for reports that are currently open or active investigations may or may not be immediately available, depending on the nature of the complaint (i.e. open pending trial, etc). Freedom of Information Requests (FOIA) that take less than 15 minutes to complete will be done free of charge. Any FOIA requests that exceed 15 minutes to complete will be itemized per the statute and a representative from the records department will have to notify you of the costs affiliated with such a FOIA request.
